Capturing moving objects

Camera pros out there, help! How do I capture moving objects so that it can be shown clearly? I've set my Cybershot T7 to moving objects scene, but still the pics came out quite blur...

Depends on wat u wanna get la. The rule of thumb is, if u want d object 2 appear sharp (focus), use higher shutter speed i.e. 1/125 or faster 1/500, to 'stop' the object. If you also compose ur pics. so d object appear focues but the background blur-blur. That is called 'panning'. How? Use fast shutter speed, then u follow-thru the object motion.

Example of my panning shot: http://kijal.textamerica.com/?r=1233914

Good luck!

(oh! make sure ur apperture setting is correct against the available light. U can also try to use the flash even tho' it is taken outside d house)

I agree and disagree with Kijal.

The part I agree is that when u want to freeze an action, u will need to use manual setting and up the shutter speed ( above 1/125 sec ).

The part I don't agree is panning. To achieve panning effect ( blurred background ), u set to a lower shutter speed ( around 1/80 sec ).

Ah... Dennis, you are correct in regards to "panning shots"!
Too bad fotopages don't export EXIF from digicams...kijal, nice of you to help! Will definitely check out your pages! Cool! :D

Er.. guys, remember? You're all pros using pro cameras. I'm using the el cheapo version a.k.a. slim, thin and user-friendly with limited settings available.

Any ideas on how to achieve the effect with such cameras?
